Domains & Domain Name Registration...
NMC use UTV Internet for registration and transfer of domain names.
The expression "dot com" is being bandied about a lot these days. Clearly this is referring to web site addresses such as amazon.com or microsoft.com. These are, in fact, domain names and you will require your own domain name for your new NMC web site. We can, of course, arrange all of this for you. "dot com" is not the only domain name type available, although it is the most popular. The table below lists the most usual domain name types used in this part of the world:
NMC can arrange the registration of your company or organisation's name with any of the above types. The format would be:
Your chouse of domain name will determine your web site address on the Internet. for example, if you chose "yourcompany.ie" as your domain name, then your Internet address would be "www.yourcompany.ie". The prices are the same regardless of the domain name type. We can also transfer a domain name your have previously registered or reserved. The price for this service is the same as for registering a new domain. Costs for domain name registration or transfer are included in our web design services. Regarding eMail Addresses and Domain Names Your chosen domain name also determines the format of your eMail addresses. For example, if your chose a domain name of mycompany.ie, your eMail addresses would look something like this: info@mycompany.ie or sales@mycompany.ie Please read our eMail page for further information about this. Regulations Regarding .IE Domain Registration .ie domain registration can be very difficult to obtain unless you are a registered business, limited company or registered organisation with documentary evidence to prove this. Documents must be provided to the IE Domain Registry which is operated by University College Dublin Computer Services. We can make the application for you, but we will need to get certain documentation from you in order to proceed. Private individuals may obtain a .ie domain name but they are extremely limited in the names they can choose. For example, a private individual, John Smith, can register a domain in the form of "js01.ie", but he cannot have "johnsmith.ie". The reasoning behind this is very unclear. You can see a list of the IE Domain Registry's rules for obtaining a .ie domain name by linking to their web site here. There are many on-line search facilities for finding domain names and seeing if the domain name you had in mind is still available. Click here to enter UTV Internet's DNA Names site and you will be able to perform such searches.
